Ghusl After Mensturation : How to Perform and Things To Keep In Mind

According to the Prophet (PBUH), cleanliness is half the faith. Muslims place a high priority on purification. Allah commanded us to be pure when we prayed, which is why. We must perform ghusl at specific moments when we are in a condition of janaabah in order to remain pure. Additionally, before praying or touching the Quran, we must be in a state of wudu. The steps to take during and after periods are summarized below.





What is Ghusl?


Ghusl refers to an Arabic term that means purification bath in Islam. It is the act of cleansing oneself from the ritual impurity (najasat) brought on by sexual activity after the menstrual cycle or contact with a deceased person, which is regarded as a form of worship in Islamic law. Ghusl is another name for the customary bath a Muslim gives a deceased person before burial.


What are the types of Ghusl?


Each of these factors has a different name for the ghusl: Ghusl Janabat is the process of being cleansed of the impurities brought on by sexual activity or the release of semen. Ghusl Hayd is the term for purification from the impurities brought on by menstruation.

Ghusl Istihadah refers to the process of purification from the impurity brought on by irregular bleeding. Ghusl Nifas is the process of purification from the impurities brought on by post-natal hemorrhage. Ghusal Mayyit refers to the process of doing a purification bath in Islam of the deceased body.


How should the Ghusl after periods be performed?


There are 2 ways of performing the purification bath in Islam after periods.


Obligatory Ghusl: It is performed when someone is running short on time.

Step-1 Take off all your jewelry and cosmetics

Step 2 Make your intentions clear for the Ghusl

Step 3 Take a shower and ensure it is with clean water

Step-4 Rinse your mouth and nose

Step 5: In the shower, turn around front and back at least once.

Step 6: Make certain that water reaches every part of the body.


Ghusl by the acts of Sunnah - it is the complete process of performing ghusl after periods.

Step 1 Start with your clear intentions

Step 2 Remove all your jewelry, cosmetics, and cloths

Step 3 Rinse your hands thrice with water and say ‘Bismillah.’

Step 4 Use your left hand to clean your private parts

Step 5 Ensure to use perfume to get rid of any odor.

Step 6 Clean your scalp by rubbing it at least three times.

Step 7 Use your hands to clean the entire body


What are the water requirements for ghusl after periods?


In Islam, pure water should be used for performing the purification bath after a woman completes her period.The sources of water can be:-

  1. Water from the well

  2. Rainwater

  3. Water from ice

  4. Water from a pond

  5. River water


It is compulsory for all Muslim females to perform ghusl after periods in order to keep themselves pure and ready to perform the rituals of Islamic tradition.
